What is the Community Map Project ?
Basicly it comes down to this : A bunch of mappers built a map together, every mapper does a small piece and passes it on to the next mapper, who adds his part to it. The idea is quite old allready, and never really worked. We started off in Januari 2003 and the map is still circling around the SC Mapping Community.

Can I join ?
In short : No, you can't. To make sure the Community Map will be release we have decided to stop taking new mappers for the project. The list reached 20 mappers now and we think that's enough for now.

Rules and Regulations for CMP Mappers

Gameplay:
We have started with a very basic storyline to make sure everyone has enough freedom to make his part.

*** Black Mesa Accident + 15 hours ***
You and some of the other Black Mesa Staff have survived the accident, till now. Driven back by the alien forces they find themselves trapped in a sub-underground storage facility. With every alien attack the survivers lose their ammo and some of their friends. Then the survivors agree to take their chances and break out of the facility and reach the surface as soon as possible, not knowing that the military has allready taken control of a large part of the facility.

You are not allowed to use strong weapons like the Gluon Gun. This would force the next mapper to keep a terrible high skill level because you added those weapons. And RPG launcher is fine, but you best make sure it won`t be available when your piece of map ends, otherwise the next mapper will have to take that powerfull weapon into consideration.

Mapping :

- The mapper after you must have freedom in his idea`s, so do not leave him with something from your part, like too powerfull weapons or situations.
- End your map with a door or something else, so the next mapper can easily add his part to yours.
- Keep settings logical. When the mapper before you used the "tnnl" texture theme then do not come up with "fifties" or something like that. Make sure the textures change smoothly and logical. When you have built your part with "fifties" as theme and the above situation really happens, then you could think about using a teleporter that teleports players into your part. Would prove logical enough for the players.
- Keep the map clean. No difficult carving, keep the brushes low as possible. The Half-life engine is very limited so don`t take up all the avaiable entity`s and brushes for your piece. Another good thing to do is to generally work symetric. This saves on r_speeds and keeps the map logical for you and other mappers.
- When you use triggers make sure you use a uncommon name. When you trigger a door by naming it "door1" it might be used allready by another mapper. Instead of "door1" use something that is familiar with the setting like : "storeroom_door1". Even better is to use your name in the names like : "hezus_door1".
- You are mapping for SvenCo-op, so real co-op play is recommended. Please go futher then just pressing 2 buttons at the same time. Use your imagination or read through this :Click Here !

Misc. :
- Do not change the .cfg file. So no default extra weapons or gravity. If you want a player to have a weapon just add them into the map so the players can pick them up.
- Add your thoughts and requests in the commap_readme file below the last entry of the map. Futher there is a entry system in that file. Add your name and the date you passed it on to the next mapper there.
- Add your name to the Motd file, so you have a part in all the fame and glory, who doesn`t want that ? ;)
- Make sure you read the commap_readme file, so you know about the latest developements and requests from other mappers.
